Draw Art Fair London is pleased to announce Drawing Room as a partner and collaborator in this inaugural Fair. Drawing Room is the only not-for-profit gallery in the UK and Europe dedicated to contemporary drawing. Since its inception in 2002, curators Mary Doyle, Kate Macfarlane and Katherine Stout have developed an extensive programme of exhibitions and events that have ranged from the traditional to the experimental, testing the limits of what constitutes drawing. Drawing Room has become a major international resource for artists and scholars researching the artistic practice and theory, the materials and methodologies of contemporary drawing.

Drawing Room’s programme constantly seeks to propose new ways of looking at drawing and the artist’s relationship to drawing. The gallery’s recent exhibition Close: Drawn Portraits juxtaposed historic figures such as Ingres, Pablo Picasso and Barbara Hepworth, with contemporary artists including Maria Lassnig, David Hockney and Michael Landy to reveal the close encounters between artists and their subjects over the past 200 years.
